Former Marine, Small Businessman & GOP Activist Announces Bid for House District 55

HARKER HEIGHTS, TEXAS (October 22, 2007) . . . Today, Mike Pearce, local small businessman, former teacher and US Marine, officially declared his candidacy for the Texas Legislature. Pearce is seeking the Republican nomination for House District 55 to replace the retiring incumbent, State Rep. Dianne Delisi. "Central Texas has been fortunate to have such a wonderful leader in Dianne Delisi. Her service to her constituents and conservative representation are lasting legacies that I intend to follow," Pearce said.

Pearce is the owner and founder of MVP Educational Products, an educational computer software curriculum that helps students to better understand history. The program is sold to educators in over 28 states across America. Pearce founded the small business after serving as a history teacher in central Texas for over 10 years. Prior to becoming a teacher, Pearce served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves.

Pearce, a lifelong Republican, has served in many leadership roles in the Republican Party. In college, Pearce was the Chairman of the local chapter of College Republicans. After moving to Bell County in 1996, Pearce volunteered for numerous duties with the local Republican Party by serving as election judge, precinct chairman, and Republican Party delegate to the State Convention. Pearce also served as the volunteer coordinator for the Hugh Shine for Congress Campaign and was a guest host for Shine on the KTEM 1400 CenTex Today radio talk show.

"I’ll be a principled, conservative voice in the Texas House. I’ll fight for lower taxes, work to preserve our private property rights, stand up against illegal immigration, and represent our conservative values," Pearce added. "Property tax appraisal reform is also on the top of my agenda when I get to Austin."

Pearce is married to his high school sweetheart, Melanie. They are the proud parents of 6 children (Arianna, Alexandra, Evan, Reganne, Jillian, and Laura). The Pearce’s are members of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, Texas.
