TWO OF TEXAS’ MOST CONSERVATIVE LEGISLATORS ENDORSE MIKE PEARCE
State Representative Ken Paxton and State Representative Jodie Laubenberg urge District 55 voters to send Pearce to the Texas Legislature
HARKER HEIGHTS, TEXAS (February 20, 2008) – Mike Pearce, Republican candidate for State Representative, announced two rare endorsements that make clear the unwavering support of conservative Republicans of his candidacy in the closely watched House District 55 race. An endorsement made by sitting legislators in a contested race for state representative is uncommon, and demonstrates a desire by conservatives to fill open seats with dedicated and like-minded individuals. State Representatives Ken Paxton (HD-70) and Jodie Laubenberg (HD-89) have both pledged their support to Mike Pearce and expressed their belief that he is the most qualified and most conservative candidate in the race.
State Representative Ken Paxton asserted, “Mike Pearce’s commitment to the principles of fiscal discipline and social responsibility are desperately needed in the Texas Legislature. I am confident that when Mike is elected, he will work with me in ending the waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars.” Paxton concluded, “Mike not only espouses conservative values on both social and economic issues, but he has put them into practice by serving our nation as a U.S. Marine, teaching our children in public schools, and putting America's free market principles to work as an entrepreneur.”
State Representative Laubenberg added, “I am proud to endorse a true conservative and encourage the voters of District 55 to elect Mike Pearce to the State Legislature. Mike will not compromise his conservative principles by casting them aside in order to "play politics." Laubenberg concluded, “Mike is articulate, honest, well-educated, and clear-minded. He is exactly the kind of person we need in Austin.”
In addition to the backing of State Representatives Paxton and Laubenberg, Pearce has received glowing endorsements from Republican State Board of Education members Terri Leo, Ken Mercer, and Gail Lowe. He has also been endorsed by the Texas Home School Coalition, Texas Eagle Forum PAC, Empower Texans PAC, the Young Conservatives of Texas, and Peggy Venable (State Director of Americans for Prosperity).
Mike Pearce, a former U.S. Marine, taught in Bell County public schools for 10 years and received exemplary reviews for his innovative teaching methods from students, parents and administrators. Pearce recently founded an educational company that sells a technology based curriculum to teachers in 29 states and two US territories. Mike has been married to his high school sweetheart, Melanie, for over 17 years and they are the proud parents of 6 wonderful children: Arianna, Alexandra, Evan, Reganne, Jillian and Laura.
