Call me naive, but I was under the impression that we expect our elected officials to be intelligent enough to think (and speak) on their feet.  But that's not the case with some of the candidates for State Representative in District 55.  I heard from some folks with the Bell County Young Republicans that two of my opponents have requested to know the questions and topics IN ADVANCE of our upcoming candidate forum. 
 
That's right ...  they want to know the questions and topics IN ADVANCE. 
 
As a former teacher, I think this request is unrealistic and not representative of what we want in our elected officials.  Can you imagine a student asking for the questions to an upcoming test ... IN ADVANCE of the test?  I for one want a leader who can think on their feet and is prepared to tell you what they believe at any moment ..... not someone who needs time to think up creative answers to the issues of the day.
